It was an exciting time on the Athletes in Action Sports Complex and Retreat Center as AIA hosted Eastern Michigan University’s football team ‘s opening training camp , from August 1–5. One hundred and five players and forty five coaches and assistants participated in five days of practices, meetings, meals, sports performance training and recreation. The team was able to utilize our challenge course team building to develop some positive group interaction and friendly competition.
We were also able to provide for voluntary chapel services and a couple opportunities to speak to the entire team about the vision and mission of Athletes in Action and about making the right decisions in sport and life.
Head Coach Chris Creighton said “The great facilities and quality people made for a very positive and first class experience – we are very glad we came here to AIA.” And Football Operations Director Dylan Saccone echoed “We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with. The logistics all fell into place and the awesome task of moving a n entire major college football operation to an offsite location was handled in a very professional and effective manner.”
We are grateful for the Lord’s leading the team here and are excited about the opportunities for deeper and wider ministry for AIA on the Eastern Michigan Campus and in recruiting EMU athletes for summer tours and projects!
