Director of Operations
Dean Bouzeos serves as the Director of the Athletes in Action Sports Complex and Retreat Center, and has been in that position since the summer of 2014. In that role he leads and oversees the staff, ministry, activity and finances taking place on the nine artificial turf fields, challenge course, five dorms and banquet center.
Dean has spent thirty-two years in sports and fitness ministry and on church pastoral staffs in Wisconsin, Florida, California, Indiana and now in Ohio. He has led or participated in sports and pastoral missions trips to East Asia, Brazil, Greece, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. He has a Masters Degree from Moody Seminary and an undergraduate degree from Carroll University.
Director of Ministry
Learning how to integrate faith and sport captured Erin's attention in 2003 as she heard about Athletes in Action for the first time. Her college softball career at the University of Indianapolis was almost over but she was able to apply AIA'S Biblical principles to her junior and senior year, which changed the way she played and even viewed sports. In 2005, she joined the AIA SCRC department to help other athletes understand how to play and live in freedom. She has served in various roles since 2005, but has taken been the ministry director for the SCRC for the past 4 years. She oversees the ministry that takes place with the 115,000 people who come onto the property. She also directs our high school Ultimate Training Camp that is held at the sports complex.
Erin met her husband, Jared, at new staff training in 2005. He serves as the co-local team leader for the 937-campus ministry, which encompasses 12 colleges or universities in the 937 area code. They have 2 children, Brennan and Raegan.
Challenge Course Director
Debbie Gersch graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and has served on the staff of Athletes in Action since January 1991.
During her time with AIA, she has served in many different roles and has traveled to over 17 countries. Some of her responsibilities have included facilitating team building activities, supervising/training interns, leading short-term teams on overseas trips, coordinating volunteers for major events, speaking at AIA events and serving in various administrative roles. Currently, Debbie is the Director of AIA’s Challenge Course.
Debbie is also actively involved in her church, where she teaches AWANA and volunteers in various capacities. She is married and has one daughter. In her free time, Debbie enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in all kinds of sports or outdoor activities.
Youth Ministry Coordinator
Vince, along with his wife Karen, has been full-time staff with Cru for 30 years investing in the lives of teenagers both in the US and for nearly a decade in Europe. Vince graduated from Miami University where he was on the football team and a decathlete. He has served at the local, regional, national and Europe – wide level ranging from leading local bible studies to planning and leading international conferences for students and international youth leaders.
Vince and Karen have three children: Ellyn and her husband David Clayton serve with Cru at Purdue University, Anthony just graduated from Appalachian State and is in the application process to come on staff with AIA, and Chloe in her last year at Appalachian State.
Vince has coached Basketball and Track & Field at the high school varsity level in Europe in the DoDDs (Department of Defense) league as well as in the US in both public and private high schools. He enjoys fishing and being with his family.
Challenge Course Associate Director
Brandon was born in Traverse City, MI where he played football, basketball and baseball through his high school years. He signed to play baseball in college at Ferris State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in recreation leadership and management.
Brandon found his calling working on challenge courses at a Christian youth camp, which is also where he accepted Jesus as Lord and savior. In 2010, Brandon moved to upstate New York to pursue his calling. In 2013, he again moved to central Ohio to work at another Christian youth camp. Brandon met his fiancé in 2015 and began serving at Athletes In Action full time in 2016.
Julieann joined the SCRC Team in Oct 2016. Her responsibilities in the SCRC office are to support Dean, Kevin and Erin administratively and as an Event Coordinator. Working with the Team to provide every visitor and sports team an experience that will have them wanting to come back. Previously Julieann has over 30 years in administration and insurance.
She lives with her husband of 15 years and two spoiled rotten fur babies on a small farm in Clinton County and enjoys riding her motorcycle.
